Remember, my son, that in your lifetime, you were given all the good things, while Lazarus got all the bad things. But now he is enjoying himself here, while you are in pain. Luke 16:15
There was once a rich man who lived in great luxury everyday. There was also a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who used to be brought to the rich man’s door, hoping to eat the bits of food that fell from the rich man’s table.
One day, both of them died. The poor man was carried by the angels sitting beside Abraham at the feast in heaven while the rich man was in great pain in Hades.
As human beings, we all like to be rich. Rich people have the privilege to enjoy top luxury. People who are born poor do not have the privilege to enjoy life because they are facing a lot of difficulties. To be rich is a blessing from God, provided riches is wisely used. A blessing received so as to give away to bless others.
Jesus said once, the first shall be the last and the last would be the first. This could be apply to both, the rich and the poor. The rich man in the Gospel had ignored the presence of Lazarus and he had never being kind to him. His luxuries had blinded him for enjoyments in his life without love and concern for others. He just lived for himself. That was the cause of him in Hades because he failed to live out the great commandment of God.
