Peter said to them, ” Each one of you must turn away from his sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sin’s will be forgiven, and you will receive God’s gift, the Holy Spirit. For God’s promise was made to you and your children. Acts 2:38-39
When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were gathered together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded liked a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread put and touched each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enable them to speak.
Day of Pentecost was the birthday of the early church. After Jesus had been crucified, the apostles were very discouraged and disappointed. They had no strength to continue to walk the way of faith. They were weak and fearful.
Jesus, the Lord knew their problems and anxieties. He wanted them to fulfill and continue his mission for evangelization. He knew they needed the power of the Holy Spirit, so Jesus sent His Holy Spirit ten days later after his ascension. Ten days later, on the day of Pentecost, came the Holy Spirit, the advocator and filled all of those who were in the house with its power.
Birthday, Pentecost day was the new birth for the apostles and all believers. That day was the main source for the church to be alive. This birthday, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the church became renewed in the Spirit and turned on a new leaf.
To be reborn, you have to believe first.
