Fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Things from above elementary are : rain, moon-light, twilight, of the stars and sunlight. They are the sources of nature. We need all these in our daily life. Lacking one would make life miserable.
Paul in his letter to the Corinthians said what can be seen lasts only for a time but what cannot be seen lasts forever. Earthly pleasures are necessities on earth for life, they are not everlasting. For we know that when this tent we live in – our body – here on earth is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us. A house he himself has made, which will last forever.
A rich young man in the Gospel came and knelt before Jesus asking how to receive eternal life. But when Jesus asked him to sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor to have riches in heaven, he showed gloom on his face and went away sadly because he was very rich. Eternity and the heavenly were indeed beyond his understanding. Let us therefore be like Paul to fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. Seek and pursue for eternal life to know Jesus, the only one true God. Pursue then for the heavenly that lasts eternally as to be wise and worth living.
Our life is short, but God is eternal.
