” Be on the alert and pray always that you will have the strength to go safely through all those things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man. ” Luke 21:36

Abram was seventy five years old when the Lord told him to leave his native land, Haran for the land of Canaan. Abram arrived in Canaan and he traveled through the land of Moreh, the holy place at Shechem. The Lord appeared to Abram and said, ” This is the country that I am going to give to your descendants. ” Abram then moved on from place to place, going towards the southern part of Canaan.

Abram’s life was an example of pilgrim on his journey of faith. On the pilgrimage, he was met with a lot of trials, difficulties and disappointments too. He was even been tested by God to sacrifice his only son, Isaac.

Abraham believed and trusted in God in his obedience. He obeyed and did what God askedhim to do. His faith and action together won God’s approval to take him as his ” Friend. ” He was then called as, ” Father of Faith ” of the nation.

We are all pilgrims in this world, knowing this place is not our home, we are just passing through from here to the next, heavenly home. Let us then be alert and pray always to have the strength to go safely through all trials and difficulties. By the power of the Holy Spirit, to over come all set backs and temptations to stand before the Son of Man at the end of our pilgrimage.

Faith is not clinging to a shrine but the endless, tameless pilgrimage of hearts.
