” So give me the wisdom I need to rule your people with justice and to know the difference between good and evil. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours? ” 1 Kings 3:9
This was the only thing that King Solomon asked from God when the Lord appeared to him in a dream. The Lord, God was very pleased that Solomon had asked for this and so he said to him, ” Because you have asked for the wisdom to rule justly, instead of long life for yourself or riches or the death of your enemies, I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had before or will ever have again. I will also give you what you have not asked for; all your life you will have wealth and honour, more than that of any other King. 1 King 3:10-13
Solomon was granted wisdom from God to rule his chosen people of Israel. To be wise by having wisdom to rule was very much better than anything for Solomon because he was ruling over God’s people who were so many that could not be counted. He judged a very difficult case for two prostitutes over one baby. His wise decision judged the dispute fairly and all his citizens respected and honoured him very deeply.
As Proverbs said ; ” Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. What ever else you get, get insight. Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will bring you honour. She will be your crowning glory. ”
The best way to gain wisdom is by applying God’s word to your life.
