When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowd was amazed at the way he taught. He wasn’t like the teachers of the law; instead he taught with authority. Matthew 7:29
Jesus, Son of God was a man of authority. He was authority incarnate – The word of God made fresh. When Jesus spoke, he needed no authority to back his statements. Whereas the prophets spoke with delegated authority – ” Thus says the Lord. ”
One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples to cross the other side of the lake. As they were sailing, suddenly a strong wind blew down on the lake and the boat began to fill with water and in the danger of sinking. The disciples woke Jesus up who was sleeping and he gave an order to the wind and stormy water, they died down and there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed and afraid saying to one another, ” Who is this man? Even the winds and waves obeyed him! ”
Another incident was when Jesus arrived at the gate of Nain, a funeral procession was coming out. The dead man was the only son of a widow. When Jesus saw her, his heart was filled with pity, walked over and touched the coffin saying, ” Young man! Get up, I tell you!! ” The dead man sat up and began to talk. Jesus gave him back to his mother. Jesus always worked wonders and miracles because he was a man of love. Authority without sacrificial love is brutish and slef serving. Jesus authority was exceptional and it always worked.
The word of Jesus stand alone in truth, power and authority.
