The soldiers led Jesus away, and as they were going, they met a man from Cyrene named Simon who was coming into the city from the country. They seized him, put the cross on him, and made him carry it behind Jesus. Luke 23:26
When Jesus was still speaking in the garden of Gethsemane with some of his disciples, a crowd arrived, arrested him and took him away into the house of the High Priest. Jesus was guarded by the men, blind folded. This was late night in the evening.
When day came, the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the law met together and brought Jesus before the council and then to Pilate. Knowing that Jesus was from the region ruled by Herod, and finding no reason to accuse him, Pilate sent him away to Herod for final decision.
With the company of all those at post, the crowd and all their accusations they sent Jesus back to Pilate and finally, Pilate set free the man, Barabbas they wanted. He handed Jesus over for them to do as they wished. Thus was to Calvary seem the longest way that Jesus Christ ever walked because upon him, the rejection, the denial and the sins of the whole human race. The road to Calvary, the cross which Jesus was being nailed upon, the prize of salvation was paid by the shedding of his blood. The blood of Jesus Christ, lamb of God, our Lord. A rose being trampled on, trampled on, by you and me.
As long as you know that God is for you, it doesn’t matter where are we going.
