Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Acts 2:2
When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were gathered together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing and filled the whole house, which looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak.
Instead, this was what the prophet Joel had spoken about the promise of God that he would send his Spirit upon all the people, men and women, young and old alike. God said this would happen on the last days. Sons and daughters would proclaim God’s message; young men would see visions and old men would have dreams.
God had raised Jesus from death and raised him to his right hand side and received from God the Holy Spirit as a gift poured out on us.
Believing with eye witness of the out pouring of the Holy Spirit, Peter urged them to repent and turn away from their sins. To be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, to be forgiven and received the Holy Spirit for new life to give rise to a new birth.
Their new way of life was spending time together and taking part in the fellowship, sharing meals and praying together. They always gathered together in fellowship in building up relationship with one another. This was the work of the Holy Spirit as wind and fire giving rise zeal and enthusiasm as believers for Christ.
Only the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord, can transform us.
