” Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring which will provide him with life-giving water and give him eternal life. John 4:14

Jacob’s well was the well since the time of Jacob for their family. This was also the well that all the women would come and draw water. At the well were stories of the whole village. There also the place of gossips, scandals, news and meetings. Women in the village used to draw water early in the morning because the weather was not too warm. One day about noon, Jesus tired by the journey sat down by the well for a divine appointment.

Then, came a Samaritan woman by herself. She had no friend or companion. Jesus started his conversation asking for a drink of water. Jesus’ intention for his conversation with her was to try to touch on the topic of water because he knew her inner thirst. After revealing to her of her past and her present life, she recognized Jesus as someone who was different from the others. She considered Jesus as a prophet and she also knew that one day, the Messiah would come to reveal the truth of everything.

Jesus told her that he was he, the one talking with her. Then the woman was over joyed with the Spirit and she left, leaving her water jar behind because she had confronted with the Messiah who could come giving her life-giving water quenching her thirst both physically and spiritually.

Many more believed because of his message, and they said to the woman, ” We believe now, not because of what you said, but because we ourselves have heard him. He was the Savior of the world.

The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.
