Jesus said to Simon Peter, ” Simon son of John, do you love me more than these others do? ” John 21:15

Jesus knew his apostle very much, so he called them to follow him. He knew Peter most specially, especially his life and character.

A family man and upon him, the duty, responsibility to look after and take good care of all in the family. He also cared for his mother-in-law very much. He could not believe that Christ, the carpenter could teach him anything about fishing.

He let down his net out of politeness but with the result of a breaking net, he got down on his knees and begged the Lord’s forgiveness. He was arrogant, but he had the virtue of readiness to acknowledge his faults.

When Jesus asked Peter the third time, ” Do you love me? ” so he said to him, ” Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you! ” Jesus said to him, ” Take care of my sheep. ” Indication his mission and responsibility.

The Lord not only knew Peter’s words and actions : he even knew the feeling in his heart; his repentance, his faith and his willingness to response. To be a true follower of Christ. Recognizing Jesus, risen as Lord of Lords who knew everything, he was ready to live his mission, task commissioned by him.

Jesus by asking Peter three times healed him of his denial at his arrest. Being the rock of the church, Peter indeed had loved Jesus, the Lord very much by feeding his sheep and died a martyr.

Love, above all things.
