Give what is in you cups and plates to the poor, and everything will be ritually clean for you. Luke 11:41

The Pharisees who invited Jesus to eat with him was surprised when he noticed that Jesus had not washed before eating. So the Lord said to him, ” Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of your cup and plate, but inside you are full of violence and evil. ” He said to them that God was the one who made the outside and inside the same. Man grades things as clean or unclean by human point of view. The Pharisees even judged people as clean or unclean by the rules and regulations that they had set up for others. They criticized Jesus for not washing his hands before eating but he told them that it was not the things that went in through the mouth that made a person unclean but what came out from his mouth. He said, ” Give what is in your cups and plates to the poor, and everything will be ritually clean for you. ” For God only looks at the heart and he knows our hearts.

A good person brings good out of the treasure of good things in his heart; a bad person brings bad things out of his treasure of bad things. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Luke 6:45

It is like a tree by the fruit it bears: a healthy tree bears good fruit whereas a poor tree bears bad fruit. A spirit filled person bears fruit of the Spirit. The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. Out of his love, kindness and goodness, he gives what is in his cups and plates to the poor. He is generous to share his food to the poor as said in Proverbs to be blessed. A vessel which is ritually clean in the eyes of God who looks only at the heart. A God who is looking for blessed vessels who are ritually clean for his service.

Love mercy, walk humbly.
