Jesus went on to say, ” Make friends for yourselves with worldly wealth, so that when it gives out, you will be welcomed in the eternal home. ” Luke 16:9
Jesus said to his disciples about the story of a rich man who had a servant who managed his property. He asked him to hand in a complete account of the property and he could not be his manager any longer.
The servant said to himself, ” My manger is going to dismiss me from my job. What shall I do? I am not strong enough to dig ditches, and I am shameful to beg. Now I know what I will do! Then when my job is gone, I shall have friends who will welcome me in their homes. ”
So he called in all those who were in debt to his master. He asked everyone of them in debt he helped them to reduce the amount they owed the master. He asked them to rewrite their debts.
As a result the master of this dishonest manger praised him for doing such a shrewd thing. We were all born into the world empty handed. We did not bring anything when we were born and we could also bring nothing with us when we die, not even out breath. Jesus said, ” You have received without paying, so give without being paid. ” Matthew 10:8
Realizing all our talents and abilities are by the grace of God, riches is also a blessing from God to bless others. He made an act of charity for being thoughtful and considerate for these debtors who were his friends, brothers and sisters in the Lord too. This dishonest manager was shrewd in handling the master’s account and had prepared for himself to win friends before the master dismissed him.
So Jesus went on to say, ” And so I tell you : make friends for yourselves with worldly wealth, so that when it gives out, you will be welcomed in the eternal home.
If you want love and abundance in your life, give it away.
