God said to Balaam, ” Do not go with these men, and do not put a curse on the people of Israel, because they have my blessing. ” Numbers 22:12
King Balak sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, the medium to pronounce a curse on the Israelites who had camped in the plains of Moab east of the Jordan and opposite Jericho. They were spreading and out numbering than the Moabites which threatened the king very much.
Balaam was a gifted prophet and he knew how to pray. King Balak sent for him because he knew when Balaam pronounced a blessing, people were blessed and when he pronounced a curse, they were placed under a curse.
The Moabite and Midianite leaders took with them the payment for the curse went to Balaam but he did not go with them because God refused to let him go. Then Balak sent a larger number of leaders, who were more important than the first. They gave Balaam the message from Balak that he would reward him richly and do anything he said. His private self-interest made him hoped that the Lord might have something else to tell him. He kept the messengers to stay for the night. That night God came to Balaam and said, ” If these men have come to ask you to go with them, get ready to go, but do only what I tell you. ” Numbers 22:20
So the next morning Balaam saddled his donkey and went with the Moabite leaders and God was angry that he was going. God knew his heart and read his thoughts.
For three times, Balaam prophesied blessings instead of curses from the Lord for God had made him realized that they were under divine government. Under the Headship of Christ, God can still turn the curse into a blessing.
Be grateful and God will bless things more than we deserve.
