Everyone must be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to become angry. James 1:19
Kind words are like honey – sweet to the taste and good for your health. Proverbs 16:24 and so we must be like the psalmist who prayed; Lord, place a guard at my mouth, a sentry at the door of my lips.
As said in Ephesians; do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you. A gentle word makes many friends and a agreeable tongue calls forth gracious replies. Sirach 6:5
James said; everyone must be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Man’s anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose. When a person gets angry very easily, he would speak without thinking and not listening. There would be shouting and insults and hateful feelings of any sort.
So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in our hearts. Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead put it into practice. God would bless the person who does not simply listen and then forget, but puts it into practice.
A person who is religious must know how to control his tongue. Otherwise his religion is worthless and he deceives himself. The Holy Spirit is God’s mark of ownership on us so we must get rid of all bitterness, passion and anger to be kind and tenderhearted to one another as to be a good and quick listener and a slow speaker at all time.
Listen when being corrected and you will live. A good man’s words are a fountain of life and will make you intelligent and speak with sense.
Never let emotions overpower your intelligence.
