Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

In the creation of the universe, the Lord God, took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it. Then the Lord God said, ” It is not good for the man to live alone. I will make him a suitable companion to help him. ” Genesis 2:18. At last, he formed a woman who was the most suitable companion for the man. They were the first two human beings, Adam and his wife, Eve.

God knew best that two are better off than one. We do not like to be alone. If someone is alone and falls, there is no one to help him. We need someone to be at our side to help, to encourage, to work together and to keep up our faith. So much so is to have companions in our walk in life. If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm. Two men can resist an attack that would defeat one man alone.

A Chinese proverbs says, ” One man thinks short, two men think wise. ” A rope made of three cords is harder to break than one cord.

Even Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus needed Timothy as his companion and assistant in his missionary work. Paul used to receive personal report from his companion and fellow-worker Timothy about the situation in the church at Thessalonica established after his departure. We all need one another both physically and spiritually. For Jesus said he would be in our midst when two or three are gather in his name.

We may not have it all together, but together we have it all.
