Now I am going to rain down bread from heaven. Each day the people are to gather what is needed for that day. Exodus 16:4
God provided food for his people, the Israelites just when they lacked everything. In the desert of sin, numerous flocks of birds fell at the side of the encampment and another unexpected food, the manna, was also found. This manna was probably the resin that at times came out abundantly from brambles of the desert. This proved God is the provider, and he has never abandoned his people as to understand that daily bread is a gift of God. When he invites us to take a difficult path, he is committed to helping us and to give us first the bread we need. The people of Israel ate the manna for forty years up to the time they reached the border of Canaan. Only then, ate food grown in their land in Canaan.
‘ Give us today the food we need, ‘ is one of the requests mentioned in the prayer taught by Jesus, himself to his disciples when asked to teach to pray as John taught his disciples. He also said, ” Do not work for food that goes bad; instead, work for food that lasts for eternal life. This is the food which the Son of Man will give you, because God, the Father has put his mark of approval on him. ” John 6:27
It is the Father who gives the real bread from heaven and this bread is he who comes from heaven and gives life to the world, ” I am the bread of life. ” Jesus told them, ” He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who believes in me will never thirst. ” John 6:35
Daily bread for survival as real bread from heaven for eternity.
