Don’t let yourselves become occupied with too much feasting and drinking with the worries of this life. Luke 21:34

Jesus used to go up to Mount of Olives in the evening. He spent the night on the mountains in solitude to seek the Father so as to keep watch. He drank coldness of the mountains and prayer was his food. He was always on the alert and warned, ” Be on your guard! Don’t let yourselves become occupied with too much feasting and drinking and with the worries of this life. ”

With too much feasting and drinking, a man may suddenly be caught by a trap without his knowing. For it will come upon all people everywhere on earth as it was in the days of Noah. He was the just one willingly entered into God’s plan when the time came for God to eliminate the unprepared, those who were drinking and feasting. Before the flood, people ate and drank, up to the very day Noah went into the boat; yet they did not realize  until the flood came and swept them all away. All had not been keeping watch at Noah while he was building hi ridiculous and apparently useless boat.

That day had taken them by surprise when God sent the flood. Therefore be on the alert and pray always to have the strength to go safely through all these things that would happen and to stand before the Son of Man as he did in the garden of Gethsemane saying to his disciples, ” Keep watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. ”

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
