Then will your reward be great and you will be sons of the Most High. Luke 6:35
Love your enemies and do good to them, and lend when there is nothing to expect in return. The saying of Jesus points out the indispensable changes of heart and approach. Then will your reward be great and you will be sons of the Most High. Be merciful, just as the Father is merciful. He is kind towards the ungrateful and the wicked. So Jesus taught us not to judge, not to condemn, to forgive and to give as the Father gives.
Give to the one who asks. Jesus did not give a rule which is automatically applicable in all situations : we know there are times when we should not give because it would be encouraging bad habits. Jesus challenges our conscience not to refuse to give. We must not be afraid that we would not be paid back. What if this were the good opportunity to trust the Father and to let go of something which is ” Our treasure “, for where our investment are, there will your heart be also Luke 12:34.
We who wish to be perfect must grasp the opportunity to give up our own wisdom in order to let God take care of our interests to be sons of the Most High. Jesus shows us the way to be transformed into the image and likeness of God on high. He demands that we overcome our social prejudices and that we drop our social barriers.
Perfection consists in imitation the Father. He is God by being compassionate; his compassion is his ability to be touched by the poverty and the anguish of his creatures, and to lavish upon them what he can give in good measure.
There is no end to God’s love. And ultimately will be no end to us experiencing it.
