Do not take part in useless conversations, alien to the faith. 2 Timothy 2:16
In this letter, Paul tries to give his own energy to Timothy and he reminds him of God’s love and promises. Timothy inherited sincere faith from the grandmother, Lois and of his mother Eunice too. Thus Paul invited Timothy to surrender completely, with the assurance that his efforts would be rewarded. For this reason he encouraged Timothy to fan into a flame the gift of God which was received. By the grace of God you have been saved through faith. This has come from you : it is God’s gift. Ephesians 2:8.
Christ’s witness must be courageous and strong as the messenger of the Victorious Christ. His own conviction will convince others. He must avoid the many ways of wasting his time and getting off track in his mission : idle conversation devoid of interest or to concern himself with fables and endless genealogies. Things that do not promote a better service of God.
To follow the pattern of the sound doctrine which he has heard from Paul concerning faith and love in Christ Jesus. The doctrine of the Gospel is to be preserved with the help of the Holy Spirit who increases its value day by day. Labor like a strong soldier of Christ Jesus with the grace we have in him, likewise.
The meditation on Scripture is the great means of growing in faith. All Scripture is inspired by God as message to his people. In the presence of God, do not fight over words, which does no good, but only ruins those who listen. Be for God an active and proved minister, a blameless worker correctly handling the word of truth and not taking part in useless conversation which only leads to a greater lack of faith.
Good conversation can solve most problems.
