They will lay hands on the sick, and they will be healed. Mark 16:18

After Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary of Magdala and also in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. Later he showed himself to the Eleven while they were at table.

Then he told them to go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. From then on, our Lord Jesus Christ with divine power began little by little to direct human history and the personal path of each one of us to himself. He first sent his apostles. The apostles were sent into the world to heal and sanctify it.

Jesus bestowed upon the Church his healing power: ” These signs will accompany those who believe, in his Name they will cast out demons and speak new languages; lay hands on the sick and the sick will be healed. ” In the Acts of the Apostles, we read account of the healing worked by Peter and Paul. The Acts of the Apostles reports these signs and miracles and they do not end in themselves. Even today they can be seen wherever Christians fulfill their mission of evangelizing the world.

The church’s mission is a response to Jesus’ gift, bringing to the sick the Lord’s own gaze, full of tenderness and compassion to heal. Our Lord Jesus said not to fear; rather each of us is baptized to be an apostle to work signs and wonders by our belief as Christ did.

There is power in the name of Jesus.
