Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:7
Waiting is a hard lesson. What more the psalmist says to be still and wait patiently for him. So much of life is about waiting and it is one of life’s best teachers for in it we learn to virtue of patience. We wait for God to answer prayers but he is never too early or too late. He is reliable for God has His hour and delay. He is always on time to deliver us in due time.
It is in waiting that we develop endurance, the ability to trust God’s love and do good, dwell in the land and be at ease (Psalm 37:3), As Jesus rebuked the wind and ordered the sea, ” Quiet now! Be still! ” The wind dropped and there was a great calm. (Matthew 4:39)
Jesus does not offer us a comfortable, calm life since sooner or later we will have to risk and undertake new experience and meet storm of life. So be still and let calmness take its presence.
The ” Father of Faith ” Abraham was already very old when many groups around him were going south in search of better lands. He was at the cross-road to begin his life over again and the worst part was that he did not have any sons. But God called him : ” You too, go; something is waiting for you. ” So Abraham left his country at the age of seventy-five. All he knew was that God asked him to go and he intended to give him something he had longed during his whole life. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him by Sarah.
While waiting in hope believing that God would grant him his promise, Abraham was still and patiently waited for twenty-five years. At last, ” Something is waiting for you ” was granted to him who waited patiently.
God is always in the waiting.
