No one can take on anything if it has not been given him from heaven. John 3:27

Many disciples of John the Baptist did not recognize Jesus. They had been drawn by their teacher’s example : he was intense and outspoken, hard on himself in food, drink and clothing. John’s disciples had the weakness of militant followers. They were too focused on their own leaders and ways to consider anything else. They came to John and said that Jesus who was favorably spoken by him across the Jordan was also baptizing and all are going to him.

John answered, ” No one can take on anything if it has no been given him from heaven. It is necessary that he increase but that I decrease “. John, the greatest of the prophets came, sent by God; he came to bear witness, as a witness to introduce the light so that all might believe through him (John 1:6-7).

He who comes from above is above all; he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth and his words, too are earthly. Only Jesus comes from on High and can fully satisfy the human heart. In him nothing of the good is lost, since he embodies all. The one who comes from heaven speaks of the things he has seen and heard; he bears witness to this and acknowledges the truefulness of God and he gives him the Spirit without measure. The Father has even entrusted everything into his hands too.

God always gives his best to those who leave the choice with him.
