For to him who is productive, more will be given, and he will have abundance. Matthew 25:29
A man who before going aboard, summoned his servants to entrust his property to them. One servant was given five talents of gold, then two to the other and one to the third. The two servants who received five and two talents of gold did business and gained as much as they had invested, whereas the third one hid his money given in the ground.
During the time of Jesus, a talent was a coin worthy thirty kilograms of precious metal but in this parable, when Jesus spoke of talents he meant the abilities give by God to each of us. The servant who had his talent represents the lazy person who considers faith as a family inheritance who never dares to take initiatives that would be helpful for others. God needs the cooperation of all of us.
The way to wait for the kingdom is to work for it to be realized. The kingdom of God is established by faith, work and by our capacity to understand others. The justice of the kingdom and the dignity of man will be different and likewise the wealth that is to be distributed. What we build on earth is not definitive. We work in little, and God will establish us in plenty. For God says : I will entrust you with more. For to him who is productive, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but he who is unproductive, even what he has will be taken from him. (Matthew 25:29)
Devotion to duty is the highest form of worship of God.
