God opposes the proud but he gives his favor to the humble. James 4:6
Humility is a way to heart. Be humble for God opposes the proud but he gives his favor to the humble. Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will raise you up. (James 4:10)
Surely, scripture is not wrong when it says that our spirit tends towards excess but God’s grace overcomes it. Our inner longings cause us to fight and quarrel for things we want and sometimes even to kill in order to get what we desire.
God asks us to love all the things he created, viewing them as means of reaching him and to reject what does not serve this purpose. Friendship with the world makes us fail to look beyond it for God himself and those he placed to us. We pray for something and do not get it because with the wrong motive of indulging our pleasures. Our prayers will not be heard if our love for the world takes the place of God in our hearts.
We all make many plans for our future. To earn more money, to but a lot of things, and to own luxurious cars and houses. It is not wrong to have such plans but we over-look and forget meanwhile to do good. We know it has to be done but what we do not know is if we will have time to accomplish. We may die without having done what mattered the most. None of us have the idea what tomorrow will bring.
Life is no more than a midst which appears for a moment and then disappears. Just the will of God to be able to live on, to do this or carry out that. Amen.
It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.
