For the Lord is merciful and shows compassion. James 5:11
Those who were patient are called blessed. Note the patience of Job, how the Lord dealt with him in the end. Yahweh restored his fortunes, giving him twice as much as he had before. He was also blessed with seven sons and three daughters.
Be patient, then until the coming of the Lord as the sower waits for the precious fruits of the earth. They are looking forward patiently to the autumn and spring rains. Just be patient and do not lose heart.
When someone is discouraged, let him pray. If someone is sick, call on the elders of the church. They shall pray for him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer said in faith will save the sick man. The prayer of the upright man has great power, provided he perseveres.
Those in charge of the Christian communities, either priest or lay must visit the sick and pray for them, asking God to heal them with faith. In the Gospel, Jesus lays his hands on the sick. The laying of hands is like communicating to another person the power which will heal him, in the name of Christ and with his authority. The laying of hands, doing with faith in the name of the church, there is an increase of God’s interventions for the sick-healing preparing them for conversion.
Elijah was a human being like ourselves and when he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, no rain fell for three and a half years. Then he prayed again; the sky yield rain and the earth produced its fruit.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
